Cinderella Man

Yesterday I went to watch this movie, "Cinderella Man" in One Utama....this movie is based on a true story and it is certainly a movie that everyone should watch...It is a movie that one will clap right at the end of the movie......


In the middle of the Great Depression, when an America in the grips of a devastating economic downturn was nearly brought to its knees, there came along a most unlikely hero who had crowds cheering on their feet-as he proved just how hard a man would fight to win a second chance for his family and himself.

That common-man hero was James J. Braddock-a.k.a. the "Cinderella Man"-who was to become one of the most surprising and inspirational sports legends in history. By the early 1930s, the impoverished ex-prizefighter was seemingly as broken-down, beaten-up and out-of-luck as much of the rest of the American populace.

Like so many others, Braddock had hit rock bottom. His career appeared to be finished, he was unable to pay the bills, the only thing that really mattered to him-his family-was in danger, and he was even forced to go on Public Relief. But deep inside, Jim Braddock never relinquished his determination. Driven by love, honor and an incredible dose of grit, he willed an impossible dream to come true.

In a last-chance bid to help his family, Braddock returned to the ring. No one thought he had a shot. In bout after bout, the talk was that poor Jim Braddock was criminally out-matched and perilously in over his head. Except that Braddock, fueled by something beyond mere competition, kept winning.

Suddenly, the ordinary working man who couldn't get a job became the mythic athlete who could not lose. Carrying the hopes and dreams of the disenfranchised on his shoulders, Braddock rocketed through the ranks, until this underdog who defied all the odds chose to do the unthinkable: take on the heavyweight champ of the world, the unstoppable Max Baer, renowned for having killed two men in the ring.

Google 7th Birthday!

Its Google 7th Birthday....some of us use it almost everyday...for some people most of the information in portfolio, PBLs and practicals reports are from google search....reliable? but i guess its a much easier way to do works.....emergence of various search engine defeniately make our life much easier.....

After being defeated by sem 5 by 2 points..pharmacy basketball team are up against sem 3 team. The team have won the game and will be facing sem 4 in the semi-finals (Saturday 24/09/05 5.30pm). Please come and support. Some photos below are taken by Ah Foo.

Extemporaneous Dispensing - Suppository

In extemporaneous dispensing practical this time we had the chance to make suppositories. This time we are make paracetamol suppositoris...it is mainly used for fever in kids especially.

Suppositories are solid, bullet-shaped preparations designed for easy insertion into the anus. They are normally made of a solid vegetable oil that contains the medicine. The suppository dissolves at body temperature and gradually spreads over the lining of the lower bowel, where it is then absorbed into the bloodstream.

I never expect that this practical is so tedious...hahaha..we ended up finishing the practical about 7 pm...just to make 6 tiny little 'bullet'..we took about 4 and a half hours....

Cocoa butter....this is the main base in the suppository....it will melt when the suppository is inserted in to the anus.

Paracetamol..the active ingredient in the paracetamol suppository...it is analgesic and antipyretic.

Silica Gel..it is used to give texture to the suppository....so that it wun break when you touch it...

The balance for us to weigh the material and some aluminium foil to wrap the final product.

The melten product then poured into the mould and refrigerated for about half and hours or more.
